Twins Kirsten Ortman and Chelsea Dressler of Regina always had an entrepreneurial spirit growing up.

In September 2017, they launched hair extension company Philocaly, which has since exploded in growth.

“There was a desire to fill a gap in the market for high quality hair extensions and the desire to go into work everyday working on a mission we felt so passionately about,” explained Ortman.

The hair extensions are available at many salons in Canada and the United States, as well as a couple in Europe.

The business began in Regina, and they have since located their warehouse to Calgary. Many members of the education team, as well as Ortman’s business partner, are located in Saskatchewan.

Ortman said she and Dressler have worked as a strong united team. They were in the same classes all the way until the last day of university.

“Having each other as business partners has been huge in our success. We are both adaptable, open to change, and extremely committed and passionate about our brand,” she said.

Ortman said they are extremely proud of their growth, though she mentioned there are always ways they could improve.

“I am always looking at what the next step is for us and how we will exceed our clients' expectations,” she said. “This being said, sometimes it is nice to step back and take a look at some of our successes."

Going forward, they are looking to expand further in the United States and the United Kingdom.
